Canada must move quickly to approval Omar Khadr’s transfer application

(Personally, I think it’s unclear as to whether or not Khadr is guilty of the crimes to which he confessed. I think it’s likely he agreed to the plea bargain simply because of the hope he will eventually be transferred out of Guantanamo. “Following extensive plea negotiations, Omar Khadr pleaded guilty to all five charges against him on October 25, 2010 and received an eight year sentence. He is required to serve one more year in US custody before he will be eligible for a possible transfer to Canada.” Khadr is the youngest prisoner at Guantanamo having been sent there at age 16.)
