Diary.com - Replacing the Old Leather Planners?
Saw this a few weeks back… decided to check it out.
On my phone, I was using an app called Memoires for jotting down personal thoughts during a day. Unfortunately, the only way to “sync” that stuff with my laptop at home was to email the stuff to myself. :( Simple enough to do, but not exactly ideal for getting an overview of what you’ve been doing lately; that is, I wanted a calendar overview.
So, here comes Diary.com. They promise everything you do is private until you decide to share (if ever). The mobile app syncs with your account on the website, so it’s there when you get home. Nice. And of course, hopefully, Diary.com stays true to its word about keeping everything private. An added bonus is the Chrome app for it, if you use Chrome.
As for Diary.com’s features, it seems to be based on how people used to use their personal planners (you know those cool leather things people carried around before everything went digital). A personal planner consisted of an agenda (by day, week, month), a way to make “To Do” lists, and a way to make notes. Not sure about anyone else, but I always made notes on my day in my planner afterwards. (Memoires is a pretty good mobile app, but it really is missing the option to sync to my computer at home.) Basically, Diary.com has three key sections, upcoming (your agenda where you can enter key events), journal (for making private notes), and tasks (for making “To Do” lists).
I think I’m going to try this out for a while, especially the mobile app. Diary.com isn’t a perfect solution. My perfect solution would be to do something on my mobile phone and have that stuff sync up with my laptop at home (without it relying on a third party website). Sheesh, maybe I really should have studied computer programming.
As for my deep dark secrets (mwa ha ha! kidding, er.. sort of; okay, okay, it’s stuff I don’t think anyone else cares about), that’s still kept completely offline. :)
